Solved math tasks: examples
Now that you know all there is to know about liquid pints, dry pints and imperial pints, why not test yourself with our solved math tasks? Carry out these tasks, then check your answers at the end to see if you’re right.
Solved math task 1
You have a bottle with 3 liquid pints of milk in it. How many cups of water is this equivalent to?
Answer:
6 cups of water. |
There are two cups to every pint, so you’d multiply your number of pints to get your answer.
3 pints x 2 = 6 cups.
Solved math task 2
You have a recipe that requires 48 fluid ounces of milk, but your store only sells milk by the pint. How many pints of milk do you need to buy?
Answer:
3 pints. |
There are 16 fluid ounces in a liquid pint, so you’d need to divide your fluid ounces requirement to find out how many pints you’d need.
48 ÷ 16 = 3
Solved math task 3
You have a bowl of punch that is equal to 14 quarts. How many pints is that equal to?
Answer:
