We’re happy to introduce Travis G., a sixth-grader who has a natural love for math and a strong desire to become an expert in it. His dedication and enthusiasm brought him the victory in the second Brighterly Math Equity Scholarship.

A few features make Travis G. stand out. These include a deep analysis of math concepts and a stark determination to become a better student.

“After soccer, I really enjoy math. I enjoy learning math because it helps me understand how things work and gives me tools I can use in real life.”

For example, I use addition and subtraction to count my change at the store, and when I cook dinner with my mom, I help measure ingredients using fractions, addition, and multiplication.

Travis is inclined towards a detailed analysis of his study needs. Similarly, he has no problem owning up to his mistakes. He understands that they are only growth points on his way towards mathematical perfection.

Travis’s teacher was also keen to highlight the child’s advantages. She thus emphasized Travis’s openness to helpful criticism. He is opened and understanding towards each piece of feedback he receives. He’s also eager to use it for future growth.
